aluminum and polished alloy

Hey guys, quick question...
the aluminum used in say car roll bars or nudge bars is just normal alloy that's being polished or has it being powder coated/painted to achieve the chrome finish?

To my knowledge it is just the bare aluminium polished up, I made up some catch cans and radiator cover for my SS and made them out of sheet ally and then started by sanding them back and slowly got to a finer grit all the way down to wet and dry with water and then I used actually polish, I will try find a photo of how they turned out...



Photo doesn't really do them justice but they are bloody shiny, not as shiny as chrome but not car off either...

ok, i ask because i have the standard VY factory sports bar on my ute and i consider 500$ WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY!!!!! to steep for a nudge bar so im just going to get bendtech to bend up the tube and i will weld it up. but i want the two to match or it will just look odd... bit of autosol should do

Yeah autosol was the last step of my long drawn out polishing task...

are the covers on the catch tanks left and right your handy work? cause they look about right...

Yeah mate and I made up the radiator cover also

ok, looks the part mate.... must be the light becuase the dar. cover dosnt look the same finish. if all esle fails will just get the powder coated...
