G'day Rattlesnake, just an update on your buggy which is now in Victoria and bought by a good mate who took it to Kyneton today for a test run at the TORC track and he let me take it out to do a few laps after he had completed a few laps himself as he wanted some feedback on the machine and I have to say this a very competitive machine as it stands and only the lack of time in the seat will hold my mate back from being near the front and I shouldn't imagine it will take him too long as it handles so predictably giving good feedback through the seat of the pants which is confidence inspiring, and needless to say he is a very happy man right now!!!

Hey Barraken, pleased to hear that, once he gets used to it and finds out how forgiving it can be he will have a few looking over their shoulders. I never really drove it to it's limits but it was always a front runner so won't be long before he's yelling at Toddy to get out of his way, aye Toddy   . But I reckon you got to be a pretty good mate if he let you drive it so soon Baraken  .

Al, I let Chris drive my new buggy last month and hey presto he was bitten by the bug more so than I suspected. He never mentioned he had bought your machine until thursday and after yesterdays run he is very happy as it is pretty much on pace as it is and now just has to get seat time to start chasing Toddy down which we are all trying to do as today Toddy won again!!!! reckon we will paint a target on the back of his machine so we can hunt him down next round....LOL

From what I've seen you have only to put a few more tyres around the track, that'll slow him down   , sorry Toddy, no malice intended :D

very nice build mate
have you got any photos of how you set up the rear tie bar ,the bars that are mounted at rear of the seat

i spent all day saturday making the brackets and bar but the amount of bind to the lower arm is to me excessive

thanks

Hi Mike and thank you, if you check out my photo bucket link you will find plenty of photos in there, unfortunately not in any order. The build is pretty well documented just never got around to organising it. Took a while of listening to a lot of experts and trying different formulas before I realised no one knew for sure. So we sat down and spent days working it out, moving the base point a little at a time, when we got it, it was pretty easy. Draw a triangle so to speak through all the points. The hitch point must be at the same height as between the two A-Arms, so take that center and in line with the pivot point on the A-Arms so run a straight line through them, keep it on the same plane, this will then form your triangle, so if you think about it, all you are doing is making one bigger A-Arm, this gave us next to no binding unless the angle became ecessive such as a hard landing. At the end of the day we had no wear on the upright bushes or A-Arm bushes in three years of racing and they were all still very tight when it was sold.
Hope this helps you out Mike.
Cheers Al
ps, your mount point will be different to mine as my engine bay was extended by 170mm.

Thanks Barraken for the video, seems strange to watch it racing around with someone else at the wheel, looks like it got shortened a bit in the process, did it rain over there.

No, Chris has removed the wing but other than that no other mods that I'm aware of. He is making a few mods to make the machine meet the TORC regulations but nothing major and adding some additional body panels to keep the mud out but otherwise he is very happy with the machine from what I can gather. He bravely let me have a steer for a few laps after I had let him test drive my machine the month before and within a lap I felt very comfortable with the handling and the engine gives it plenty of grunt allowing me to drift it around the higher speed corners simply balancing the machine via the throttle which is very impressive and helps maintain good corner speed so Chris should give the leading machines a good run for their money once he has some more laps under his belt.

Hi Al, sorry I missed this thread.
I didn't get up to the last meet until Sunday so I missed seeing Chris and Ken running around on Saturday.
It would of been good to check out your old beast, everyone that saw it was pretty impressed.
I'll get to check her out next meet hopefully.
Yeah im pretty wary of those tyres now mate, in no hurry to do it again anytime soon.
Are you making much progress with your new build? When ur done you'll have to bring her across and race the old one.
